Aircraft used on our Ontario Outpost Lakes
A major part of a “fly-in” outpost business is obviously the flights into and out of your camp! This integral part of our operation is a huge responsibility that is not taken lightly and the job is not handed to just anyone with a plane.
Due North Outpost Camps charters exclusively the
services of Huron Air and Outfitters to fly our guests and gear into our remote
outpost camps. Huron Air, owned and operated by Ernie and Donna Nicholl, is a
long established air charter company conveniently located next door to the Due
North main base. Huron Air has been providing air transportation for anglers,
hunters and others in the Armstrong area for the past 26 years and has an
excellent reputation in the air charter industry. Huron Air was chosen by Due
North because of their uncompromised commitment to safety and customer
satisfaction.
Huron Air operates a commercial fleet consisting of a DHC-2 Beaver, a Norseman and a DHC-3T Turbo Otter with experienced pilots that have a combined time in excess of 20,000 hours. These meticulously maintained aircraft are operated in accordance with Transport Canada regulations. Their fleet of three different sized planes allows for very efficient movement of different sized groups and to have more than one group in the air at one time! We recognize that guests would rather be on the dock at an outpost camp than on our dock at McKenzie Lake!
Due North Outpost Camps performs its camp check services, regular maintenance, fuel and propane runs and emergency flights using its own Cessna 170B.
